Cannabis Suppresses Dreams

A lot has been said about the effects of marijuana but maybe, its most important effect has been ignored.

First, there is no physical addiction as there is for alcohol, tobacco or hard drugs. If there is an addiction, it is of the mind for the reason I’ll state in a few lines.

Second, there is a beneficial aspect. Smoking, I’m only talking of smoking ganja, smoking weed cancel the disastrous effect of tobacco, lung cancer.

Third, the mental effect puts away the need of reacting on the spot to events occurring in life. It allows you to take a distance with your emotions and delay the response you would normally give to things that affect you.

Then, smoking cancels dreams. The action on one’s subconscious is ten thousand times more powerful than the one over conscious state. Here is what people desire in smoking grass, hashish without knowing it 99% of the time.

This is the most profound effect on the brain, and yes, I believe people like it so much just because of it. We are not bothered a lot with our thoughts because we’re always able to shut them down, but dreams are another story. Dreams do not occur only while sleeping but they are present all the time, they are the background of our life, they are the matrix that is always present while we are in a conscious state but we just are too busy to spot them while awake … but they’re there, all the time, like a shadow. The brain doesn’t stop dreaming in the morning, the unconscious of our brain has no start and stop button.

And we are annoyed with that because we want to feel ourselves at the control, we want to be the pilot of our plane, we want to be our own master and our subconscious is an intruder in our desire to be the king, the ruler, the master. Even if we don’t acknowledge of its hidden role, we feel it in the background, and we want to shut it down, plain and simple.

This is where the addiction comes from, no different in that kind of any other addiction, from lying to heroin, or Prozac. We are full of compromise, of dust, of wrongs and we don’t like to be reminded of them, not by others, which we don’t care, but by our own inner compass. There is also the ugly reality of a brutal and obscene world that haunts us night and day, and that too affects the unconscious, but it is another side of the equation.

I regret that I don't know more on the brain ! But one thing is sure, living a natural and honest life does not hurt ! This is the least one could say for being ... 'not unhappy', and not addicted. (Weed does help but mostly those already on the right way)
